Solaris has been with us since the late 1990s. Rudi discovered and fell in love with the variety even before it received its official name. Our vines grow between 500 and 650 meters a.s.l. on loamy-calcareous, partly poor and stony soils with a high dolomite content. In the vineyard, Solaris shows distinct traits:
→ Very early ripening – Solaris always opens our harvest season in August
→ Vigorous, prostrate growth with few tendrils – requires a lot of manual work for training and canopy management
→ Large, dense foliage – regular leaf thinning ensures good air circulation in the fruit zone
→ Young vines with strong growth may show unstable yields
→ Weak wood ripening
→ From veraison onwards, high risk of bird and wasp damage – we protect the fruit with nets
→ Particularly interesting: depending on ripeness, Solaris is also suitable for sweet wine
